If your stone is properly sealed it will prevent stains and costly repairs.
To determine the correct sealer you need to answer a few questions such as.
- Should you use Water or Solvent based sealer?
- Is the stone interior or exterior?
- Do you desire to bring out the natural color of the stone?
- How often do I need to seal the surfaces?

Use of Alkaline and Bathroom Cleaning products will damage polished stone. Even some "GREEN" products contain oils and citrus which will stain and or etch your stone.
